Description
Bloodstone – also called ‘Setonite’ in its African variety – is a type of mineral aggregate of red jasper, grey chalcedony, pyrite, and iron inclusions which was named for the red splatter effect caused by its iron inclusions. Bloodstone is good for workings related to growth, healing, and empowerment. Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate which was named, of course, for its calcium content. Calcite is good for workings related to security and healing. Together, they make two very powerful healing stones.
Crystals which are tumbled offer a more gentle form of its energy than their raw counterpart. Tumbled crystals will gently radiate their natural energetic signature wherever they sit, and they can be particularly good for carrying on your person due to their durability.
The Witch’s Recommendations: Bloodstone and calcite are my two biggest stones for healing workings. To me, they represent – quite heavily – blood (iron) and bone (calcium). Now, with stones that have been tumbled, I would always recommend giving them some extra nurturing attention when you first receive them. They’ve been through a lot to be made into the specimens they are today, and, moreover, you never know the energy being put into them by those giving them the treatment. Take some time holding the stone, sitting with it, meditating with it, appreciating it, and expressing gratitude for it before setting it out for display or altar dressing or before using it in any kind of serious working.
