Pyrite – also called fool’s gold – is a type of iron sulfide which was named for the Greek ‘πυρίτης λίθος’ (‘pyrites lithos‘), meaning ‘stone which strikes fire’, due to its use in ancient times to create sparks when struck against steel. Despite the nickname ‘fool’s gold’, pyrite does often contain very small quantities of what is known as ‘invisible gold’, as it can only be seen by microscope. Pyrite is good for workings related to money, abundance, prosperity, amplification, and honesty.

Crystals carved into points or obelisks act as a sort of conduit or battery for the energy they align with. Keeping points or obelisks near something will naturally imbue it with that crystal’s energy. It can also be used like a wand or athame, held in your hand and out toward the point of focus you would like to send its energy into. It’s an incredible versatile and intuitive shape for any crystal in your collection. These particular lots range in size from approximately 2.5″ to approximately 3″ in height, with Lot 1 having the smallest specimens and Lot 2 having the largest specimens.

 The Witch’s Recommendations: Given its color and misclassification during the gold rush, pyrite might be one of the best stones you can have on your prosperity altar. I haven’t seen it very often in the form of a point, so this was a very wonderful find. It’s also fantastic, I have found, for workings involving draconic spirits.
